Straight From Hungary

Dear Friends,

First of all, I’d like to apologize for not writing after the race in Germany. I had lots of Honda events to attend and when I realized I hadn’t written, it was time for the race in Hungary.

Regarding the race in Germany, the only thing I can say is that by 20 seconds I would have had the same chance Nelsinho did, that is, because I left the pit stop right in front of the leader, Hamilton.

I got the blue flag and I let him go by. Right after that, the safety car came into the track and I was stuck behind the leader.

If it hadn’t been for that, the safety car rule, I would not only have gained a lap, but when the cars went to the pit stop, I would also have overtaken everyone, causing me to stay behind Nelsinho.

Well, this was a pity, but I would have been there due to sheer luck and not because of the car’s good performance.

In Hungary, we expected more for the fact that we had just put in the last aerodynamic step and a new rear suspension. On Friday, the car was oversteering, but this was caused by a problem in the right, rear shock absorber, which we only found out about after the practice. I went to the classifying full of hope, but I made a mistake and was out of the second part of it. I was half a second faster in the lap and in  the 11th turn, a fast one, I went in too quick and the car slid off to the dirty part of the track and I was left stranded.

Well, on Sunday I started out with a heavy car as a stategy to give me advantage over the other racers when they had to go to the boxes. Even though the car was heavy, it was one of my best first laps this season. I gained 6 positions, but when we had to go to the pit stop things literally got hot. It was taking a little too long and when I turned around to see what was going on, I saw fire, which thank God didn’t even get near me.

This was the end of the race for me although I think we wouldn’t have done better than 12th.

We’re on vacation now! We really needed it! The Honda team will continue to work on the car for the next race, which will be in a street track. This always gives us a better chance.

Take care,
